Saturday 19th to Friday 25th July
not of the world but in it
There is no doubt that the 21st century has delivered new challenges for Christians that were unimaginable even 20 years ago when New Horizon began. Living faithfully as a follower of Christ can now be an isolating experience in our world where the very existence of God and the uniqueness of Jesus are under question. Yet this is the new context in which we are to speak and live the Good News, and rather than remove ourselves from the world, Scripture challenges us to locate ourselves in it.
This is new territory for many of us as we seek to discover how we can practically
and positively be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ in this changing
world. If we believe that the Christian worldview is the only one that makes
sense of the world that we live in, then we need to seriously engage with God
and the truth of His Word. Only then can we face this world with hope, with
love, and ‘wise’ faith. This is the aim and purpose of New Horizon
2008 and our prayer is that all who come will experience the God of the past,
present and future; and return home better able to love and live out faith in
this complex world.
