For several years through the generosity of those attending, New Horizon has been able to give financial gifts to particular projects identified by MAP (Mission Agencies Partnership) and approved by the New Horizon Management Team.

The following projects were supported by New Horizon in 2011.  £10,000 was allocated between them:

Bible Translation in Papua New Guinea

Following the showing of the video at NH2011 which centred on the arrival by air of the first copies of the Kimyal New Testament in West Papua, this project focuses on the translation of the Bible into different languages in neighbouring Papua New Guinea.  There are 860 indigenous languages spoken in PNG.  At preent the Bible Society is supporting translation projects for 8 different languages.  They help these groups by promoting, encouraging and supporting the Bible translation being carried out.

Training workshops for Pastors and Church Leaders in Patagonia, Argentina

Latin Link is helping to fund a project to deliver training workshops for Pastors and Church Leaders in the Pagagonian region of Southern Argentina.  Patagonia is a region three times the size of the UK with a population of over 2 million, and a rapidly growing evangelical church.  There is a lack of theological training for local leaders and Patagonian churches lack trained ministers.  This is a pilot project designed to gain the support of Patagonian church leaders so that eventually an evangelical theological seminary can be established in the region.

Communicating the gospel through Puppet Ministry in a middle eastern country.

Today a MECO worker,  is using puppets to communicate the Christian message to children in a middle eastern country, explaining God's love in Jesus and how they can know him as their Heavenly Father.  This ministry provides an excellent way to communicate the gospel to children who are predominantly oral learners. The worker makes the puppets themself, and trains local believers in making them and using them.  Presentations are suitable for ages 3 years and upwards. They have many opportunities to encourage their young puppeteers in their spiritual growth and build relationships with their families.

Unleashing the truth through mentoring

Exodus in 15 years of working locally in Northern Ireland has found mentoring to be an extremely effective tool in ministering to young people and helping them to discover and develop a relationship with God.  They are planning to create a series of Biblically based mentoring courses that would help church and youth group leaders kick start mentoring relationships in their contexts.  They would hope to begin piloting the new course in September 2012.
